Non-player characters (NPCs) are AI-controlled characters encountered in the Openworld gamemode of BRM5.

NPCs populate Ronograd Island and are essential to Openworld gameplay, being found at most locations in the game. NPCs are classified into four categories: Hostile NPCs, which attack players on sight; Hostile Vehicles, which are used by hostile NPCs; Neutral NPCs, who do not attack nor help players; and Friendly NPCs, who help the player in some way or can be interacted with.

Hostile NPCs[]

PoD Basic[]

The PoD Basic is the standard infantry unit of the Patriots of Democracy.

The PoD Basic is armed with an AK-74N. They wear a red-and-black tigerstripe uniform (red-and-white for Winter variants), a black vest, and either a black 6B6-3 helmet with black balaclava or a red beret with no face covering.

The PoD Basic is the most common enemy in the game. Being the PoD's standard line infantry, they make up a vast majority of the organization and are thus deployed most frequently. Multiple of them staff and guard every PoD installation on Ronograd Island, with even more sent to recapture lost installations from enemies.

In combat, PoD Basics fire at medium distances, only advancing or falling back to find cover, keep their distance, or close the gap between their targets. As their name implies, they have basic stats, with moderate damage, health, and accuracy, and are generally easy for any player to deal with, though their strength often comes from suppression, numbers, and ill-advised players underestimating them.

PoD Basics spawn at Depot, Ronograd, Communications Tower, Department of Utilities, Fort Ronograd, and Naval Docks. They also spawn at Village and Quarry during counterattacks, despite that area being the responsibility of the Ronograd Liberation Front. The Winter variant can only be spawned in the Real-time Game Editor.

PoD Sniper[]

The Sniper is a sharpshooter unit of the PoD.

The Sniper is armed with an OTs-03A. They wear a red-and-black tigerstripe uniform with blue jeans, a black vest, a black ski mask, and a gray SoundFighter Pro headset; they may also spawn without a balaclava/ear protection.

The Sniper is a long-range unit capable of accurately shooting and killing enemies from farther distances than standard infantry. At least one is deployed to defend most PoD installations. They rarely if ever partake in counterattacks due to their weaponry and tactics being unsuitable for assaults.

In combat, Snipers hold their position and target visible players, using their powerful sniper fire and long-range target acquisition to pin down or kill players. For balancing purposes, their accuracy has been lowered, but one should still be careful when crossing into their line of fire, as giving them enough time will guarantee a hit. They often hold high positions with wide sight lines that may be difficult to access or land hits on. However, they are similar to PoD Basics stat-wise, including their moderate health, and they typically do not seek cover, making them relatively easy to deal with when flanked or fully visible.

Snipers spawn at Village, Quarry, Ronograd, Communications Tower, Department of Utilities, Fort Ronograd, and Naval Docks.

PoD Smoker[]

The Smoker is a chemical warfare unit of the PoD.

The Smoker is armed with a UMP45 and a chemical gas grenade. They wear a green-and-black uniform, a gray vest, a black ski mask, a black MICH 2001, gray SoundFighter Pros, and a gas mask with red-tinted lens.

The Smoker is trained and equipped for chemical warfare. Smokers deploy an unidentified noxious orange-tinted gas of unknown composition, and are trained to use themselves to deploy this gas by carrying it to its target, in what could arguably be considered suicide attacks. They are properly equipped for such tactics, donning powerful armor, full body protection, and a gas mask, giving them a higher chance of survival (at least in the short-term).

In combat, Smokers rush toward players and fire at them, never preferring to engage at a distance. At a medium to close distance, they will equip their gas grenade and pull its pin, releasing a stream of gas clouds capable of rapidly damaging players. If they are close enough to the player, they will throw the grenade, while if they are killed, they will drop the grenade; in both instances, the grenade will continue to emit gas for a short period. The Smoker's high health, quick movement, rapid damage, and difficult-to-spot appearance makes them a formidable foe and a high-priority target; however, the Smoker's charge tactics expose them to fire, meaning the concern is simply killing them before they can get into gassing range of a player. If players get out of the Smoker’s range, they will cease fire and their gas grenade and continue to rush the player.

Smokers spawn at Ronograd, Communications Tower, City Hall, Department of Utilities, and Naval Docks.

PoD Advanced[]

The Advanced is a specialized infantry unit of the PoD.

The Advanced is armed with a UMP45. They wear a black-and-reddish-orange uniform with a yellow or white armband, a gray vest, a gray ski mask, a black MICH 2001, and gray SoundFighter Pros.

Advanced, as their name implies, are advanced units of the PoD, intended to be a "step up" compared to PoD Basics. True to their name, Advanced units are significantly more dangerous than their weaker counterparts, sporting twice the health and a UMP45 that excels in close range.

In combat, Advanced charge at players using automatic fire to suppress them, as opposed to keeping their distance like PoD Basics, likely because they are armed with a short-range SMG as opposed to an assault rifle. Stat-wise, the Advanced is essentially an upgraded PoD Basic, with doubled health and quicker reaction time. However, their bright armband and distinct uniform allow them to be noticed easily, giving players the chance to get rid of them early; additionally, their use of an SMG makes them less effective at longer ranges, and similar to the Smoker, their charge tactics expose them to fire, making killing them at a distance (or, at closer ranges, using automatic fire) ideal.

Advanced spawn at Ronograd, Communications Tower, Department of Utilities, Fort Ronograd, and Naval Docks.

PoD Spec Ops[]

The Spec Ops is a special operations and guard unit of the PoD.

The Spec Ops is armed with an Mk 18. They wear a black-and-white uniform, a gray vest, a black ski mask, a black MICH 2001, gray SoundFighter Pros, and single-tube night vision goggles with glowing pink lens.

Despite their name, Spec Ops do not seem to be deployed on traditional special operations; rather, they are only deployed on protection and escort assignments to protect high-ranking PoD members and important PoD facilities.

Although Spec Ops only have 100 health similar to that of their Basic counterparts, their high firerate means that they are strong in close quarters, and like their Advanced counterparts they will not hesitate to use fully automatic fire. While they are easily taken care of in open spaces, they are much more deadly in close quarters and confined spaces. Additionally, while defending, they may call for assistance, making them more threatening in numbers.

Spec Ops spawn at in the Ronograd Command building, at Fort Ronograd, Bunker and in a Direct Action quest given by Sydney Nguyen.

PoD High Value Target[]

The High Value Target or HVT is a high-ranking member of the PoD.

The HVT is armed with an OTs-03. They are considered an important asset to the PoD, a fact that also makes them prime targets for assassination by the PoD's enemies. For this reason, whenever an HVT enters an active combat zone, they are escorted by Spec Ops units trained to protect them from harm.

HVTs spawn in a Direct Action quest given by Sydney Nguyen.

RLF Basic[]

The RLF Basic is the standard infantry unit of the Ronograd Liberation Front.

The RLF Basic is armed with an AK-74N. They wear an assortment of civilian clothing, ranging from dark clothing and ski masks to bright tracksuits with visible hair.

The RLF Basic is the second most common enemy in the game. As the RLF's only known unit, they make up a vast majority of the organization, and multiple of them are deployed to staff and guard every RLF installation on Ronograd Island, with even more sent to recapture lost installations from enemies. Judging by their appearances, they do not carry much into battle and appear as though they were simply "drafted from the street", and are likely considered expendable units.

RLF Basics are essentially the same as PoD Basics and do not possess any special abilities nor weaponry, using the same tactics in combat; however, as they are relatively inexperienced, they have slightly less accuracy. Despite their lack of protective gear, they have the same health and damage output as PoD Basics, making the risk of underestimating them even higher for inexperienced players.

RLF Basics spawn at Depot, Quarry, and Village. They also spawn at the Department of Utilities during counterattacks, despite that area being the responsibility of the PoD.

Hostile Vehicles[]

These are vehicles used by the PoD and RLF to transport their forces and launch counterattacks. These vehicles despawn after the wave it spawned on has been defeated, and are statistically similar to their player-operated counterparts.

PoD HMMWV[]

The PoD Humvee is a black HMMWV operated by the Patriots of Democracy and the Ronograd Liberation Front.

The PoD Humvee is used to attack or defend contested areas and locations or to transport VIPs and cargo in convoys. The PoD Humvee seats three passengers in the back, and a passenger and driver at the front. Upon reaching their destination, the passengers will disembark, followed by the driver and front passenger; the turret gunner, if there is any, will remain in the vehicle to operate the turret. If the PoD Humvee is already posted at its destination, the occupants will remain in the vehicle.

There are three variants of the PoD Humvee:

  • Variant 1 “Transport”: Has Open Armor installed. This Humvee serves as a transport vehicle for the HVT. As such they are only seen in Nguyen’s Direct Action quests involving neutralizing the said enemy. Along with the HVT are Spec Ops bodyguards that accompany the target.
  • Variant 2 "Gunner": Has Open Armor and Armored M2 turret installed. They spawn at Ronograd, the Department of Utilities, and Fort Ronograd, and during counterattacks. They can also appear as an escort vehicle for the HVT.
  • Variant 3 "SAM": Has a custom square rear and a unique surface-to-air missile battery mounted to the roof. If a player-operated aircraft flies within the vicinity of a crewed SAM Humvee, they launch several missiles that explode on contact, likely killing the pilot and passengers. They are crewed by a driver and a gunner, with the latter wearing a black beret. The SAM battery is disabled once the gunner is killed. They spawn at the Department of Utilities, Fort Ronograd, the Naval Base, and the Depot.

PoD Truck[]

The PoD Truck is a Truck operated by the PoD and the RLF.

The PoD Truck is used to deploy large groups of soldiers to contested areas during counterattacks, or to transport VIPs and cargo in convoys. The PoD Truck seats ten passengers in the bed, and a passenger and driver at the front. Upon reaching their destination, the passengers will disembark, followed by the driver and front passenger.

They spawn at Depot, Village, Quarry, Ronograd, Department of Utilities, Fort Ronograd, and Naval Docks.

PoD Littlebird[]

The PoD Littlebird is a Littlebird operated by the PoD.

The PoD Littlebird is used to quickly transport teams of soldiers to contested areas during counterattacks, or in areas that are difficult to access via ground vehicle. Upon reaching their destination, the passengers will disembark, followed by the pilots. This is true for all variants except the attack helicopter variant, which is instead used to provide close air support to PoD ground units, does not carry passengers, and does not land.

There are two variants of the PoD Littlebird:

  • Variant 1 "Transport": Used to deploy teams of soldiers to rooftops or open areas during counterattacks, replacing the older Paratrooper waves. Variant 1 seats four soldiers in the back and two pilots at the front. Upon reaching their landing zone, the passengers will disembark, followed by the pilots. They spawn at Village, Quarry, Ronograd, Department of Utilities (DOU), Fort Ronograd, and Naval Docks.
  • Variant 2 "Attack": Flies overhead to provide supporting fire to their allies on the ground. Variant 2 seats 2 soldiers in the back and a pilot in the front. Upon reaching their designated area, Variant 2 will follow a set path that circles around the area, occasionally spinning in place while ascending before descending back down and resuming its original path.

PoD Blackhawk[]

The PoD Blackhawk is a Blackhawk operated by the PoD.

The PoD Blackhawk is used to quickly transport teams of soldiers to contested areas during counterattacks, or in areas that are difficult to access via ground vehicle. The PoD Blackhawk seats six passengers in the back and two pilots at the front. Upon reaching their destination, the passengers will disembark, followed by the pilots. One passenger will always man one of the M134 Minigun turrets installed on the sides.

They spawn at Ronograd, Communications Tower, Department of Utilities, Fort Ronograd, and Naval Docks.

Neutral NPCs[]

Hostage[]

Hostages are civilians that have been taken hostage by and/or forced to work for the PoD and the RLF.

Hostages wear a mixed variety of civilian clothes. Their clothes are identical to the ones wear by the RLF.

To free a hostage, they must be brought to the refugee camp in the FOB. Two hostages will follow the player at a time. Harming a hostage displays a red message warning the player to not harm civilians; killing hostages results in a cash and reputation loss, depending on a player's star count.

They spawn at Depot, Village, Quarry, City Hall and Fort Ronograd.

Friendly NPCs[]

Quest Givers[]

Quest Givers, also known as PLATINUM FIVE NPCs, are friendly NPCs that give the player quests. They are one of the few NPCs to be allied with the player, though they do not move nor fight, and they cannot be killed.

The six quest givers are located in Sochraina City. They are:

Completing a Quest Giver's quest improves the player's reputation with the quest's respective Quest Giver. Once reputation with a certain Quest Giver reaches a certain threshold, they will grant the player a reward; for example, Lieutenant Fedorov grants the player an OTs-14 Groza once the player completes 20 of his quests.

For more detailed information on quests go to: Quest Rewards

Removed NPCs[]

Zulu[]

The Zulu was an standard infantry unit of the Zulus, seen in early renditions of Openworld.

The Zulu was armed with a SCAR-H. They wore a red-and-black digital uniform and a brown green chest rig, were bald.

When a Zulu spotted a player, they charged toward them, shooting extremely accurate fully-automatic fire.

They spawned in all locations except El-Chara and Village.

The release of Operation Aftermath replaced the Zulus with the Patriots of Democracy and the Ronograd Liberation Front. Was armed with a AK-74N and wore a same red-and-black digital uniform with brown green chest rig but with a black balaclava and a black 6B6-3; their appearance was transferred to their successor unit, the PoD Basic.

RPG Operator[]

The RPG Operator was an anti-vehicle and anti-personnel unit of the Zulus and Patriots of Democracy. Was added in operation Nightfall.

The RPG Operator was armed with an RPG-7. They wore a red-and-black digital uniform, webbing, a black balaclava, and a black 6B6-3.

When the RPG Operator spotted a player, they fired an almost-invisible rocket at them that created a similarly almost-invisible explosion on impact, which could easily instantly kill players and destroy vehicles. This made the RPG Operator a massive threat to be taken down as soon as possible.

They only spawned at El-Chara, Village, Communications Tower, and Fort Ronograd.

The release of Operation Resurgence removed the RPG Operator with no direct successor.

Zulu Truck[]

The Zulu Truck was a UAZ truck operated by the Patriots of Democracy.

The Zulu Truck was used to deploy large groups of soldiers to contested areas during counterattacks. The Zulu Truck seated six soldiers in the bed and two soldiers at the front. Upon reaching their destination, the soldiers would all disembark from the truck.

They spawned at El-Chara, Village, and Ronograd.

The release of Operation Resurgence replaced the Zulu Truck with the PoD Truck.

Zulu Turret Jeep[]

The Zulu Turret Jeep was a UAZ jeep with an open M240 machine gun operated by Zulus.

The Zulu Jeep seated two soldiers at the front and one gunner on the top. Upon reaching their destination, two soldiers in front would disembark from the jeep. The gunner was extremely accurate with its shots, using red tracers and could down any player with a couple of shots, making them rather difficult to deal with.

They spawned as part of the Ronograd City counterattack as well as part of the Village counterattack.

The release of Operation Resurgence replaced the Zulu Turret Truck with the PoD Turret Humvee, with two variants. (Note, needs pictures.)

Zulu SAM Truck[]

The Zulu SAM Truck was an armored open-top APC armed with a surface-to-air missile launcher, operated by the Zulus.

If a player-operated aircraft flew within the vicinity of a crewed Zulu SAM Truck, it would launch several anti-air missiles that exploded on contact, quickly destroying the aircraft and killing the occupants. The SAM launcher would be disabled once the operator manning it was killed. They were crewed by a driver, a missile launcher operator, and a team of soldiers that disembarked from the vehicle on arrival.

They only spawned at Ronograd during counterattacks.

The release of Operation Resurgence replaced the Zulu SAM Truck with the PoD SAM Humvee.

Zulu A-10[]

The Zulu A-10 was an A-10 operated by the Zulus.

After a counterattack wave was defeated in Ronograd, the entire server would be notified of an airstrike on the city. Shortly after, an enemy A-10 would swoop down and fire its GAU-8 Avenger down the main street, destroying the remaining convoy vehicles and killing any players caught in its fire. Its fire was distinguished by its red tracers. The A-10 could not be harmed or shot down.

They only spawned at Ronograd during counterattacks.

The Zulu A-10 was removed when Ronograd was redesigned with no direct successor.

Anti-Air Battery[]

The Anti-Air Battery was a surface-to-air missile battery operated by the Patriots of Democracy.

Implied to be hijacked from the original operators (likely the Russian Ground Forces), the Anti-Air Battery protected military bases from aerial assault and enemy reconnaissance. If a player-operated aircraft flew within the vicinity of an Anti-Air Battery, it would launch several anti-air missiles that exploded on contact, quickly destroying the aircraft and killing the occupants. The Anti-Air Battery would be disabled once it was destroyed; however, with its extremely high health and the comparatively low damage output of players, this was unlikely.

They only spawned at Fort Ronograd and Naval Docks.

The release of Operation Resurgence replaced the Anti-Air Battery with the PoD SAM Humvee.

Mule[]

Mules were civilians that were taken hostage and forced to move supplies by the Patriots of Democracy and the Ronograd Liberation Front.

To free a hostage, a player had to interact with them at close range and bring them to a refugee camp.

Harming a hostage displayed a red message warning them to not harm civilians; killing hostages resulted in a reputation loss that depended on the player's star count.

Mules were removed when Village was redesigned and the hostage rescue system was changed.

Zombie[]

Zombies were undead humans that sought to kill and consume living humans.

Pre-Aftermath Zombies wore dull civilian clothes. Zombies from the Halloween 2020 Event wore old Zulu and Shadow Raid uniforms, with the notable addition of bright red eyes.

Uniquely, Zombies only used melee attacks, dealing damage on contact.

Pre-Aftermath, Zombies would spawn near the FOB in Ronograd. In the Halloween 2020 Event, Zombies would spawn in a certain forest around a fire barrel; at midnight, a white-colored fog spawned numerous Zombies that would have to be killed.

The release of Operation Aftermath removed the original Zombies due to changes in the game's lore and direction. The Zombies seen in the Halloween 2020 Event were removed after the event ended.

K.P.[]

K.P. was the first quest-giving friendly NPC in BRM5.

K.P. was a white male with brown hair, and was wearing a brown jacket with a blue shirt, and black pants.

K.P. used to give two quests. In his first quest, he asked the player to bring him his guitar from his old house in the Village. In his second quest, during the Halloween 2020 Event, he gave the player the code to a locked room in the police station to obtain a gas mask.

He could be found at his house located near the Village.

K.P. was been removed with Operation Resurgence, along with all the other previous friendly NPCs. His house still exists and can be entered.

KP

UNJTF Commander[]

The UNJTF Commander was an NPC and a member of PLATINUM FIVE, also known as the United Nations Joint Task Force.

The UNJTF Commander was a white male wearing a Delta Force uniform and a cap.

The UNJTF Commander, as his name implies, supposedly commanded the UNJTF in Ronograd. His sole purpose was to give lore, explaining who he was, the story of the FOB, and the backstory of the conflict in Ronograd. He also helped new players with getting started by giving them tips and instructions on what to do.

He could be interacted with using the standard pre-Resurgence interaction system. When initially interacted with, he could be asked questions through a popup UI.

The UNJTF Commander NPC was removed with Operation Resurgence, along with all the other previous friendly NPCs, after the FOB was revamped.

BRM5 UNJTF Commander

PoD Officer[]

The Officer was a commanding officer unit of the Patriots of Democracy.

The Officer was armed with a Makarov PM. They wore a brown formal uniform with dark brown pants.

The Officer was a high-ranking member of the Patriots of Democracy, and multiple Officers commanded and coordinated the PoD's campaigns and activities from relatively secure and well-protected locations. When an Officer spotted a player, they fired at them with slow but accurate pistol fire.

They only spawned at Mountain Base.

The Officer was removed after Mountain Base was redesigned, with no direct successor, though the later PoD High Value Target technically succeeds the Officer's role as a high-ranking PoD member.

AI Abilities[]

BRM5 boasts one of the most advanced enemy AIs on Roblox, with enemies being capable of performing numerous complex actions found in no other Roblox game.

Infantry[]

Combat strategy[]

One of the oldest and most straightforward abilities of an NPC on Roblox is charging at the player and attacking them. Enemies in BRM5 have done and still do this; however, most regular enemies keep their distance and focus on shooting at the player and closing their distance instead of getting extremely close to them. Only some enemies, namely the Smoker and the Advanced, focus on rushing the player, as that is part of their strategy. Marksmen do not move and shoot at players from long distances.

Cover[]

PoD Cover

A PoD rifleman takes cover behind a pillar.

While under fire or advancing near a player, enemies actively attempt to locate cover behind anything the AI deems suitable for cover, including barriers, sandbags, walls, and structures. Depending on the height of the object, enemies will crouch or stand behind cover. When the player can be acquired, they will pop out to fire at them, they return to cover once they run out of ammo or if the player can no longer be acquired.

Suppressive fire[]

Most enemies focus on suppressive fire tactics, aiming to keep the player in cover for long periods of time so other enemies can flank and kill them without the player firing back.

Suppressive fire used to cause the edges of the player's screen to darken and their screen to shake, making it more difficult to aim and reducing situational awareness. Due to complaints by the players, this feature was removed from the game.

Waypoints[]

Enemies use waypoints to patrol locations, locate and attack players, and find cover while suppressed. Hostages also use waypoints to follow the player and locate their vehicle.

Detection[]

By default, enemies are in a passive state and either stand in a single area or patrol a pre-determined route indefinitely. Enemies enter a hostile state if they are shot or a player is heard, but resume a passive state if there is no recent activity. If an enemy detects a player, or finds a deceased enemy, or if a player fires a unsuppressed shot, the enemy that detected them will trigger an alarm by heading to the flag pole, causing all enemies in the compound to enter a hostile state. If the enemy fires their gun, the alarm is raised no matter if they triggered it. All enemies will also either all head to the player's location or last known location, or head inside a building or find an angle with some cover to cover an angle to defend the compound.

In some instances, if there are multiple enemies who witnessed the death of another enemy, one of the witnesses will head to the corpse and place a piece of Intel then guard the corpse. Regardless, once the alarm is triggered, all enemies will remain in a hostile state until they are killed or despawn. Once the alarm is triggered, players are unable to gain the stealth bonus of $10 and 5 EXP when killing any enemy.

Enemies will have good vision at daytime, while having limited vision at nighttime. The Spec Ops are not affected by the time of day, as they wear night vision equipment. Enemies at nighttime will turn on weapon-mounted flashlights and can only see players that are within that cone of light. When in their hostile state, they disable their flashlight at nighttime, and will detect you normally.

Enemies can hear gunshots, but suppressors could decrease it's audibility down to 15 feet.

Enemies can also hear a player's movement, depending on what kind of movement it is. Running makes a lot of noise while crouching makes little.

Voice[]

When enemies have direct attacked by players, They will say something to alert all enemies. When they are injured, They will also say something to show they're injured.

PoD Basic/PoD Winter/RLF

  • When they have got shot, They will say: "I'm pinned down!"
  • When they spotted players, They would say: "I see one over there!"

PoD Advanced

  • When they have got shot, They would say: "I'm pinned down!"
  • When they spotted players, They would say: "I see one over there!"

PoD Smoker

  • Smokers won't speak anything to show they got shot.
  • When they spotted player, They would say: I see one over there.
  • You could hear Smokers breathe and cough in the ordinary.

PoD Sniper

  • When they have got shot, They would say: "I'm pinned down!"
  • When they spotted players, They would say: "I see one over there!"

Vehicle[]

Transportation[]

Every vehicle in the game can carry multiple occupants. Enemies are capable of operating vehicles in the same manner as players, arriving during counterattacks and deploying teams of soldiers or the vehicle's installed weaponry against the players.

Guided missiles[]

Enemy SAM Humvees are capable of firing surface-to-air missiles at player-operated aircraft. These missiles lock onto aircraft, calculate their trajectory, and chase or intercept them. On impact, the missile explodes, damaging or destroying the aircraft and killing the occupants.

Removed abilities[]

Old AI[]

The enemy AI prior to Operation Resurgence was extremely basic. Enemies would either be patrolling an area or remain stationary. Should they detect a player, patrolling enemies will stop and open fire on the player, staying where they are after that, while those stationary may retreat to another spot, where they will stay there for the rest of the time. Old smokers on the other hand were notorious for their super fast speed, making the players complain about them simply running into their sight with guns blazing before being removed during Operation Nightfall.

Combat roll[]

Prior to Operation Resurgence, enemies would perform a combat roll upon seeing a player or when in combat, in an attempt to dodge a player's shots. The ability was removed due to their limited effectiveness, unusually frequent use, and the tackiness inherent in the unrealistic action film-esque tactic.

Splash damage[]

Prior to Operation Resurgence, certain enemies such as the jeep machine gunner and the RPG Operator fired projectiles that would explode upon impact. The RPG Operator, Attack Helicopter, and Zulu A-10 have since been removed, while machine gunners traded explosive ammunition for M2 Browning heavy machine guns firing conventional bullets. Splash damage technically still exists through the M67 Grenade, the SAMs, and the A-10's bullets.

Melee[]

NpcMeleeAttack

A player being kicked down by a Zulu.

Prior to Operation Resurgence, enemies would put their weapon away and start punching and kicking players at close ranges. Once the player left the enemy's melee range, they would reequip their weapon and continue fighting as normal. The ability was likely removed due to players lacking melee weapons of their own and the unlikelihood that a player could feasibly survive getting that close to an enemy without getting shot beforehand.

Trivia[]

  • Old enemies were very buggy and were prone to stacking on top of one other. This behavior is shared with the Halloween 2020 Event's zombies, who could stack on top of each other and reach low-flying helicopters.
  • From Pre-Aftermath to late Operation Viper, a common form of enemy counterattack were Paratroopers that would appear mid-air. This form of attack was very sudden and could easily get players killed if they were caught in the open, as the Paratroopers would appear not too far from the ground below them. After Operation Viper, these were replaced by helicopters, which spawn in the distance and provide a visual cue for their approach.
  • The old enemy vehicles are based on old Soviet vehicles. The jeep was a UAZ-469 with an open back and cage, the truck was a UAZ-452D with an open back, and the SAM truck was a BTR-40 likely armed with dual SA-7 missile launchers.
  • All NPCs' weapons are simplified, low poly variants of usable player weapons.
  • The PoD Sniper uniforms have an American flag patch with a "The Punisher" skull logo.
    • The Punisher is a fictional antihero in a series of comics by Marvel with the same name.
  • The name of the PoD Spec Ops is a community-given name and their actual name hasn't been confirmed by the developers as of yet.
  • The gas canister that PoD Smokers drop upon death is completely invisible, but will still do damage.
  • PoD Spec Ops have their arms and legs uniform decals replaced each other, perhaps due to the rush of the developers.
  • The PoD SAM Humvee is based on the real life ASRAD-R short-range surface-to-air missile battery mounted on the back of a Humvee.
  • Prior to Release 6.6, SAM Humvees at Fort Ronograd and the Naval Base could be driven by players. However, these were blocked in with concrete barricades to prevent them from being driven away from the location, likely because griefers would drive them to the FOB and let them shoot down helicopters as they took off.
